Matthew 5:13

13 “You are the salt of the earth.14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

As Christians, it is very easy for us to fellowship and connect with like minded believers.  God’s light in our life should shine for everyone, not just for the people who believe.  There are plenty of people in this life that need hope for their future and know that someone cares.  Christians are the minority; People that need a “pinch of salt” in their life are the majority.

It is easy to to only try and connect with people who are like-minded in spirit and in nature, but everyone are all the same.  We all bleed red.  If we are only sharing the good news of God to only the people in our life that we connect with often, then we aren’t doing God’s will.  If we can’t have an honest relationship or connection with Non-believers, pray for them, and share God’s work in our life, then we are not living out our purpose.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We can’t save everyone, but we aren’t supposed to. However, we can spread the message of God’s Word and how having a relationship with Him has changed our life.  Most importantly,  everyone needs to understand that by having a relationship with God can inevitably change their life.

Most people are resistant to change and don’t want to hear the truth.  It is our responsibility as Christians to help others, share the love God has poured into our life, and pray for others.  This means everyone.  If we are only praying for other Christians, then we are not the salt or the light. We have a responsibility to show others that they need God in their life. A salt with no flavor cannot be used.

More often than not, and sometimes unintentionally we are ashamed or embarrassed to talk about God to Non-Believers. It is this behavior and fear that prevents us from sharing God and saving others.  How we can we truly have an honest relationship with God if we are ashamed to talk about Him?

God wants us to continue living for Him so that people can witness His love in our life.  God wants to use us to reach the world. When people see that we care enough to do the things they wouldn’t do, they will be more likely to ask why we are different and this can open the door for us to share that we are following God’s example.

Just as the Moon only reflects the light of the Sun and has no power of its own, all the light we can offer here on Earth is just a reflection of God’s eternal light. It’s not ours to hoard,  but it is ours to share.  –  Sarah Bryan Miller
