At one point in time in our life we have often felt that God has forgotten about us. We have been so broken, so lost, searching … searching for the strength to press forward .. reaching … only to be disappointed when there isn’t a hand there to reach or hold on to. God is the stronghold of our life, He is there to lift us up when we are weak and feeling down. So why does God feel so distant? God never puts anything in our lives He knows we can’t handle .. but why does it feel like God isn’t there any more?
Lost in a sea of sadness
Blind in this place of darkness
If I fall would you be there to raise me up?
Or will I be the forgotten one?
God has a way of showing up in our lives when we least expect Him to … he also shows up when we ask. There are times when we actually call to Him and yet He still feels so distant. Too far from our reach and we search endlessly for the will to press forward, pray often, and hope that God will show up again to give us the strength to press forward to a new day. To believe and trust Him that whatever is going on in our lives right now is only temporary. The hurt, the bitterness, the longing, everything … everything we’re going through is only temporary. When we are “lost in the sea of sadness”, where do we find the strength to seek God? And when we do seek Him, how do we believe that when all hope is lost that the pain will eventually subside and He will raise us up again?
Lead me to the crossroad, I can find my way home
Devils on my back and angels in between
The scars and dreams that made me believe
Wheres the crime scene in remembrance to me
When our eyes meet do you know the man beneath?
Walk the line between desperate and redeemed
Where does our strength come from?
We must be willing to accept God as our Savior and trust that He has not forgotten us. God has never for a moment turned His back on us. He knows what we’re going through, he understands what we’re going through and when no one else does or tries, He does willingly. It is through our Faith in Him that gives us the hope we need to believe that He has not forgotten us.Because when no one else is, God is always thinking about us. We must understand that God allows things in our life to happen to create a greater dependence on Him. When we are at a crossroad in our life or something unexpected happens, He wants us to turn to Him, not turn away. It is in that moment when our Faith is tested.
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
I cry aloud to the LORD;
I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
2 I pour out before him my complaint;
before him I tell my trouble.
Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;
no one cares for my life.
5 I cry to you, LORD;
I say, “You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.”
Being forgotten by others is normal, but being forgotten by God is a rarity. Take refuge in the Lord and continue to pray. Have Faith in the Lord because when all else fails in our lives, He will never will.
